orange margaritas
with chili-lime salt
Makes 1 Drink
1 1/2 ounce silver tequila
1 ounce orange liqueur such as Grande Marnier
1 ounce freshly squeezed orange juice
Ice
Chili Lime Salt for rim, recipe follows
Lime wedge for garnish
Chili Lime Salt:
1 tablespoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon lime zest
1 tablespoon lime juice
Salt the Glass:
Mix together the salt, chili powder and lime zest on a flat plate. In a wide bowl, add the lime juice. Dip the rim of the glass into the lime juice then into the salt mixture. Set aside until you’re ready to assemble your cocktail.
Make the Cocktail:
Fill a large cocktail shaker with ice. To the shaker add the tequila, orange liqueur, and orange juice. Shake for 30 seconds until extremely cold. Add ice to the salted cocktail glasses then strain the cocktail into the glass. Add a lime wedge to the rim and serve immediately.
