February: In Rewind

You could almost say that February went as “snap, crackle, and pop!” for me. It’s been such an aggravating month, as I’m sure you may have have seen. Coming out of a building in NYC I stepped incorrectly and “boom!” broke my ankle cleanly in one place and two hairline fractures in another. Let me tell you, if you think New York is a lot on a normal day - it’s nothing compared to navigating it with an injury. Thankfully, the doctor didn’t limit me from martinis and those who felt bad for me kept the Tanqueray flowing. As annoying of a month as this has been, it’s also been a time of reflection for me. I’ve been wrapping up some amazing projects and looking forward to new ones and I’m grateful for the chance to share all of it with you.

My latest project, Brooklyn Point, has been one of my absolute favorites to date. My client opened my eyes to a different facet of design that I haven’t focused much on and that has put a lot into perspective for me. He places a large level of importance of working with natural fabrics and materials throughout his home and aimed to use as many green materials as possible. It’s never been something I’ve really thought about - how our home impacts our health. Of course, we think about things like lights and mood when we’re designing, but what are we actually ingesting when we sit in our space? Luckily there are companies providing solutions that make healthy living more than just a phrase. Check out some of the photos of this space below.

And on the food front: talk about ingesting things. I feel like a beached whale at this point! Then again, there’s not much you can do with a broken ankle, so pasta, bread, pies and other sweets will fill the void until I’m back in full swing.

Below you’ll find a recap of what we shared in February and what’s to come in March.
